DC’s new owners want to “revitalize” Superman and Overhaul its universe

There’s a new name in town when it comes to all things DC Entertainment. Since Discovery closed its $43 billion deal for DC parent company WarnerMedia this week, the company now goes by the name ‘Warner Bros. Discovery‘. It also means the newly-named company owns the rights to DC properties like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman.

Variety are reporting that new CEO David Zaslav and Management at the company are considering a major overhaul of DC Entertainment following the merger.

Key Points on the future of DC

  • Discovery believes that several top-shelf characters such as Superman have been left to languish and need to be revitalized.
  • They believe that projects like Todd Phillips’ “Joker” are a shining example of the type of movies they should be making.
  • Warner Bros. Discovery are looking for a Kevin Feige type to oversee the building of the DC Universe.

In this writer’s opinion, more Superman can only be a good thing. Even if Henry Cavill doesn’t reprise his role from Man of Steel, Superman is far too important of a character to sit on the sidelines for this long.

Whether this new strategy is right or wrong, only time will tell. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments below or over on social media @GeeksGonnaGeek. As always, thanks for reading.
