There’s a new name in town when it comes to all things DC Entertainment. Since Discovery closed its $43 billion deal for DC parent company WarnerMedia this week, the company now goes by the name ‘Warner Bros. Discovery‘. It also means the newly-named company owns the rights to DC properties like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman.
Variety are reporting that new CEO David Zaslav and Management at the company are considering a major overhaul of DC Entertainment following the merger.
Key Points on the future of DC
- Discovery believes that several top-shelf characters such as Superman have been left to languish and need to be revitalized.
- They believe that projects like Todd Phillips’ “Joker” are a shining example of the type of movies they should be making.
- Warner Bros. Discovery are looking for a Kevin Feige type to oversee the building of the DC Universe.
In this writer’s opinion, more Superman can only be a good thing. Even if Henry Cavill doesn’t reprise his role from Man of Steel, Superman is far too important of a character to sit on the sidelines for this long.
