Optimus Prime

How Tall is Optimus Prime in Transformers?

There is more than one answer to the question of how tall is Optimus Prime. There has been multiple iterations of the Transformers character over the years from animated shows and comics to live-action movies. The version that we will be focusing on is from the Transformers film franchise which started in 2007 and stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox with Peter Cullen providing the voice of Optimus Prime.

Optimus Prime Height

According to official stock art for 2007’s Transformers, Optimus Prime is 28 feet tall. This makes the leader of the Autobots approximately five times taller than the average human being. There are iterations of the character that are smaller than this though, and also versions that are taller. For example, Optimus Prime in the original cartoon series is 6 metres tall, which is equivalent to about 20 feet. However, in Japanese Beast Wars, Optimal Optimus comes in at a staggering 12 metres tall, which is almost 40 feet!

Megatron Height

It’s a good thing Optimus is big too, because his arch enemy Megatron is even bigger. Megatron is the leader of the evil Decepticons. The Decepticons only have one goal which is to conquer the Universe. Earth just happens to frequently be their battleground. Using the same size reference used for 2007’s Transformers, Megatron stands at an astonishing 35 feet tall. A full seven feet taller than Optimus. However, size isn’t everything and the Autobots leader usually comes out on top in battle.

The Future of Transformers

As for the future of the Transformers franchise, the official Paramount Plus Twitter account recently gave the following update: “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will be released theatrically in 2023 and is the first of three new installments. A new animated series from @Nickelodeon arrives this fall. And in 2024, the franchise expands further with a CG animated Transformers theatrical film.” As always, thanks for reading.
