What year is it again? Tobey Maguire is Spider-man, Hayden Christensen is Darth Vader and Michael Keaton is Batman. The nostalgia is real.
It was originally thought that these characters would only be returning as a once-off, however it now appears as if it will be much more than that. Especially for Keaton’s Batman.
Batman as a mentor
When the news first broke of Keaton’s return, THR reported that “he [Michael Keaton’s Batman] could become akin to Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — a mentor figure who appears in multiple projects.”
In recent days we reported that a mural was spotted on the Batgirl set showing both Batman and Robin. It was then followed up by reports that DC had found the actor they wanted to play Nightwing in the DCEU. The evidence is starting to stack up that Batman could fill the role of mentor for these young heroes.
Reliable scooper @mytimetoshinehello also posted the following to his official Twitter account:
Keaton is already a confirmed cast member for both The Flash movie and the Batgirl movie. It remains to be seen what the other projects will be. For now, all that can be done is to sit back, relax and wait to find out.
