Qui-Gon Jinn and Darth Maul to appear in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series?

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series is the much awaited show from Disney+ that has fans excited. So far we know that Ewan McGregor will be reprising his role as the famous Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Also, Hayden Christensen will be dawning the infamous helmet of Darth Vader. Fans are really looking forward to know what the Jedi Master was up to after the events of Revenge of the Sith. But, could Qui-Gon Jinn and Darth Maul also make an appearance in the upcoming series?

As supernerds we’re unable to sit idly by and wait until we get more information. We like to read the “Sacred Jedi Texts” and unravel the mysteries of the Sith by taking a deep dive into the galaxy, so that you all can feel more connected when the show eventually debuts on Disney+.

Before we go ahead we want to clarify that this is just a working theory. We haven’t found any concrete evidence to back up our claims.

So, we think that two beloved characters from the Star Wars universe will be appearing in the show. These two characters will be Qui-Gon Jinn and Darth Maul. How good would that be?! Here is why it could actually happen:

Qui-Gon Jinn

Disney / Lucasfilm

Qui-Gon last appeared in the Clone Wars as a force ghost to talk to Obi-Wan. He asked Obi-Wan if he believed that Anakin was indeed the chosen one. Since then Qui-Gon appeared as a voice to Master Yoda, guiding him to be able to become a part of the force after his death. Yoda mentions the same to Obi-Wan towards the end of Revenge of the Sith telling him that during his exile he must train to learn this new power.

We think that Kenobi will commune with the Force to learn this technique, and during his training he will be visited by his old master, Qui-Gon Jinn. It would be interesting to see what the two will talk about. Perhaps we might even see Kenobi apologise to his old master for failing in his promise to him.

Darth Maul

Disney / Lucasfilm

Maul will not be fighting Obi-Wan in this series as that battle takes place in Star Wars Rebels. But, we think that this time out we might see Maul go head to head with another major villain, Darth Vader.

The show will follow Obi-Wan staying out of sight of the Empire while keeping an eye on young Luke Skywalker. While he is doing that, Vader will be trying to track him to exact his revenge. We think that this will lead Vader to find Maul. Vader might believe that he could have some knowledge regarding his old Master’s whereabouts. This will be the first time Maul will find out that Kenobi is alive and after fighting Vader (Just Imagine this Battle!), Maul will flee to Malachor and earn the name, ‘The Shadow’.

While this is happening, the Empire will destroy his criminal syndicate known as Crimson Dawn and Maul, who is now stranded on Malachor where we find him in Rebels, will start to look for his nemesis, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The Mandalorian featured many connections to Rebels. So it wouldn’t be surprising for Obi-Wan Kenobi to do the same. Assuming that the creative minds at Lucasfilm can navigate the timeline, this is a compelling way to add some depth to the show.

  2. Yoda tells Obi-Wan that he has training for him to do on Tatooine, which would entail learning how to communicate with Qui-Gon, who had learned how to preserve his spirit in the netherworld of the Force. This reveal is one of the only insights fans have ever gotten regarding what Obi-Wan was doing in his solitude on Tatooine. 3. Because of Yoda’s reveal, it has seemed like the reappearance of Qui-Gon Jinn in Force ghost form was a very possible route for the series to take. The appearance of his character would likely be as grand as Luke Skywalker’s cameo was in The Mandalorian , and would maybe even have more nostalgic value than CGI Luke did, considering Neeson would be able to play the role himself.
