Mr Freeze has so far only appeared once in a Batman movie. This is a shame given how deeply complex the villain is as a character in the DC Universe. And as much as I love ice puns I’m not quite sure that Arnold Schwarzenegger was the right actor to portray the character’s nuances correctly.

However, now that DC are keen to build on the Universe surrounding Robert Pattinson’s Batman we are likely to see Mr Freeze make his way to the big screen once again. And fans already have the perfect casting in mind.

A recent Instagram post by @apexform has given fans a glimpse of the serial villain-cast actor as Mr Freeze. And it can’t be unseen.

Esposito is of course most famous for his role as the titular villain Gus Fring in the Breaking Bad series. He also brilliantly played the notorious Empire-loving Moff Gideon in Star Wars series The Mandalorian.

Why Esposito would be perfect casting

Mr Freeze is an amazing villain because his motivations are very easy to sympathise with. By stripping away the freeze ray and cryo-suit, the real driving factor behind the character is his finding a cure for his wife’s illness. He’s a man that is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve this goal. This means he often finds himself on the radar of Gotham’s Dark Knight Batman.

Given how Esposito knocked it out of the park with his portrayal of Gus Fring and Moff Gideon it would be interesting to say the least to see his take on Dr. Victor Fries aka Mr Freeze.
